School CharterIn 1995 Nungurner School joined the Schools of The Future program. As part of this the School Council and school community devised a document called a charter which outlines our goals and aims for the next three years. The Charter contains curriculum goals as well expected codes of conduct for students, staff and the school community. During 2002 we underwent our triennial review, which looked at students achievement, staff and parent opinion, and charter goals over a three-year period. An independent verifier presented his finding to school council. He found that most students were achieving above expectation and that the close working relationship between parents and staff had created a cohesive, happy school. In 2006 our school completed a Negotiated review with a new Strategic Charter being compiled for the next 4 years. ReportsNungurner Primary School reported its students in line with
the new report format of the Victorian Government Blueprint for education
concentrating on English and Math’s. In 2007 this will be extended to all areas
of the curriculum. We will contact you at anytime if there is a problem or concern and we invite you to do the same. Often small problems become major issues if not dealt with immediately. Remember: Please come and see me if you have any queries or problems. Problems often occur through misinformation and can become mountains if not dealt with in the beginning. We are here to guarantee your child’s right to a fantastic education and we remain committed to providing an extensive, first class educational program which is the hallmark of Nungurner.
Junior School CouncilThe Junior School Council is made up of all the students and meets once a month. Students vote to elect a girl and boy co-president and a secretary each year. Two of these students may represent the JSC at school council meetings to report on issues of concern or interest. Students discuss issues of concern from the playground and classroom, discuss ways of raising funds and are also involved in budget and policy decisions. Any funds raised by JSC activities are allocated for spending by the JSC. Students participation in JSC is seen as a valuable part of their learning. It enhances their understanding of co-operative decision making and gives them a greater responsibility and ownership in the running of the school. |
