Staffing

Whilst staffing levels for 2007 are yet to be confirmed. I anticipate maintaining a staff of 2.2 teachers with myself full time and Lyn Brehaut working 8 days per fortnight with Di Forrest working 2 days per week in support of Reading Recovery, Science, Art and P.E. Such a teaching ratio allows us to offer exceptional teaching ratios of staff to students. Additional staffing is provided by M.A.R.C. Van time, LOTE teaching, Music teaching and via the provision of a Welfare Officer 2 days per week.

School Council

The School Council is the group that oversees the running of the school. It is responsible for determining policy and budget and for the upkeep of facilities, grounds and equipment.
The council consists of 7 members: five elected parent representatives, the principal and one co-opted member. All positions except that held by the principal are for a two-year term with half the elected parent reps. retiring each year. Elections are held during March with the new council taking over from the beginning of April.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at 5.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings or you may submit items of business for discussion. The current president is Heather Jones.

Facilities & Grounds

The school consists of three classrooms and a converted shelter shed which serves as a storage area. The school is well resourced with computers, musical equipment and general classroom supplies, with additional items bring added to or upgraded or on an ongoing basis.

The grounds boast a full sized tennis/basketball court, a fort playground, large open grassed areas as well as shaded nooks and crannies for quiet activities. Additions to the Adventure playground will be constructed in 2007 adding to the impressive grounds.

School Council has employed the services of a gardener and maintenance man to keep the school in tiptop condition.

Volunteer helpers at working bees are rewarded not only with happy students and teachers but also with a barbeque lunch and a cold drink.

An “Investing in Schools Grant” received in 2006 allowed for a substantial redevelopment of kitchen and office facilities with a likely similar grant expected to be used for a new playground and outdoor learning area.
