Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Nungurner Primary School! The small school that offers BIG opportunities. Our small school environment, rich curriculum, small class sizes, and strong relationships with students and families enables us to cater for the needs of all children.

At Nungurner Primary School we provide our students with a broad range of educational opportunities to help them become curious, resilient and life-long learners. Children participate in specialist subjects including art, music, STEAM, Physical Education, sport, yoga and Respectful Relationships classes. We participate in camps, sports and excursions with the TUBBS cluster of schools. This provides opportunities for our students to get to know a range of students prior to transitioning to secondary college.

In Gunai Kurnai language Nungurner means ‘Pleasant Place’ and we certainly enjoy our natural bushland setting. We enjoy seeing and hearing local birds and wildlife throughout the day. Nungurner Primary School is a Resource Smart school. We use tank water, have solar panels and children are taught the importance of respecting our natural environment through involvement in local environmental initiatives through Landcare, Fishcare, East Gippsland Catchment Authority and the Marine Mammal Foundation. We have a recycling program and offer students the opportunity to participate in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. Children well and truly learn the message of reduce, reuse and recycle.

At Nungurner Primary School we live by our values of ‘Working Together’, Make Good Choices, Respect Yourself, Others and the Environment and ‘Stick at it!’.

Prospective parents are invited to make a time to come and visit our school for a tour. Please contact the school office to organise a suitable time.

I look forward to welcoming you to Nungurner.

Kind regards,

Emma Steele
Principal
